A Great Mentor Partners with You

Certification as a Listening and Spoken Language Specialist is the gold standard for speech language pathologists, audiologists and teachers of the deaf who aspire to help children who are deaf reach their spoken language potential. Mentoring by a certified professional is a required component of the certification process, so choosing a mentor who challenges you toward your professional best is a critical step.

I have mentored teachers of the deaf, audiologists, and speech pathologists across the world. Working with me, you will find that I bring these values to every coaching relationship:

  • Strengths Based Coaching
Leveraging your strengths and values creates a comfortable learning experience, allowing you to build knowledge and skills easily.
  • Practical Application
You will learn how to put ideas into action as we brainstorm creative, down-to-earth approaches for developing auditory and spoken language skills.
  • Empowering Parents
Coaching you to hand over the keys to the castle, so that parents truly become their child’s best teacher.

Are We A Match?

The professionals I work with are self-starters who are committed to their careers and to the families they work with. My learning partners are motivated to complete the certification process efficiently, working with me for approximately 3 years. Often they are social learners who take advantage of group learning experiences whenever they are offered. Always they are eager to learn and to bring their best to this coaching experience.

What Does the Program Look Like

Mentorship for LSL Certification has specific requirements, but your unique experience will be tailored to your needs. Most often, coaching takes place remotely with learners submitting recorded examples of their work prior to a virtual meeting via Zoom or another platform.

Some of the features we will consider for your program include:

LSL prep – for those professionals who are brand new to the field, a foundation in listening and spoken language concepts will start things off

Just the Basics – required elements of LSL Certification scheduled over the 3 year application period

Up Leveled – all of the required elements plus membership in a LSL Mastermind for additional support and skill development

A La Carte – perhaps you are already working with a mentor and would like an additional perspective; we can work together to create your plan

How Do I Apply?

The learning partner relationship is a meaningful one, so getting to know each other will be important. I would love to schedule a virtual meeting to learn about your goals, experiences and questions as well as share further details.
